Hybrid Bermuda Grass Nitrogen Curve Trial
Description
The goal of the Hybrid Bermuda Grass (HBG) Nitrogen Curve Trial is to improve our understanding of the nitrogen requirements of HBG and provide data that can be used to develop more effective fertilization recommendations for large-scale production and landscape management. In this experiment, HBG is grown hydroponically to provide a highly controlled environment where nutrient availability can be precisely regulated. Nitrogen is the only variable that is systematically altered among the treatment solutions, allowing the effects of different nitrogen concentrations on plant growth to be evaluated without interference from other environmental or nutritional factors.
Objectives
By monitoring plant health, growth rate, biomass production, and visual symptoms across a range of nitrogen levels, the study aims to identify both
- The minimum nitrogen concentration required to support healthy growth
- The upper threshold at which nitrogen begins to produce toxic effects
