Seashore Paspalum
Paspalum vaginatum
Scientific Name: Paspalum vaginatum
Common Name: Seashore Paspalum
Seashore Paspalum is a warm season grass that is salt tolerant. Because of this, you can find Seashore Paspalum along many coast lines and is used for most golf courses lining beaches. It grows very similarly to common bermudagrass. However, it is more shade tolerant and less cold tolerant. Due to its low cold tolerance, Seashore Paspalum is found almost only in the warm climate of the southeastern United States. Active Seashore Paspalum requires about 1” of water a week during peak growing season.
