Bahiagrass
Paspalum notatum
Scientific Name: Paspalum notatum
Common Name: Bahiagrass
Bahiagrass is a warm season grass that thrives and is valued for its outstanding heat and drought tolerance. Bahiagrass is a slow germinating grass that establishes well, meaning it is a very durable, low growing, low maintenance grass. Bahiagrass does require full sun but as stated above does not require much water or nutrients. However, overwatering can cause disease to Bahiagrass. Bahiagrass originally came to the United States in 1914 to be used as pasture grass and is still used today for erosion control and lawns in the southeast and gulf areas.
