Alkali Grass is a cool-season grass that can be found in all states besides the deep south and southwest. Alkali Grass gets its name from its ability to tolerate alkaline soils well. Because of this, you can find Alkali Grass next to roads in areas that experience ice and snow. This is because the salt that is put down on the road in the winter doesn’t kill the grass. Alkali Grass can grow in the light as well as the shade, and typical germination can take between 10-14 days.
