Seed Technology Research
Job Title: Research Technician

Position Description: We are seeking highly motivated students to join our research team starting as soon as possible and going until the end of April 2018. Qualified students will work in the laboratory, greenhouse, and field developing new seed enhancement technologies for improving restoration efforts in rangeland systems.


Interns chosen for this position will have the opportunity to work with various laboratory instruments and machinery that are used in the treatment and planting of rangeland seeds. Over the course of the internship the applicant will improve their understanding of rangeland restoration practices and increase their proficiency in core environmental science fields (e.g. plant ecology, plant physiology, and soils). Interns will also gain experience in designing scientific studies, collecting, processing and analyzing data, and writing peer-reviewed research publications.


Qualifications: BYU students majoring in Wildlife and Wildlands Conservation, Environmental Science, Genetics and Biotechnology, Landscape Management or a related discipline are preferred. The intern must be self-motivated, hard-working, and detail oriented. As a key member of the research team, interns must have the capacity to implement, monitor, and report findings of the research, as well as provide suggestions for conducting future research projects. Knowledge of MS Excel and Word will be required for reporting research results. Field work will be a component of this research. Students must be capable of squat/kneeling for extended periods of time to read/clip vegetation plots, build fence, and other similar projects. A valid driver’s license is required.
Salary and hours: $10.00 to $12.00/hr depending on experience and/or education. Workweek during the semester 15-20 hrs., with some work occurring on Saturday’s
